It turns out we're heroes to all the ground dwellers in building 7A. It was the main sewage line that got backed up and I happened to notice something was wrong at 12:30am. By 12:30pm they had it all worked out and they even cleaned up our apartment.
I wish we had pictures of the two different augers that were in our apartment at 3am just so that we could have proof that this all happened. We do have a new toilet, but since none of you even know what the old one looked like it doesn't stand as very good proof.
What an odd night.
